In a world where disability information has moved rapidly onto digital formats there are still some brilliant successes using the tried and tested methods of print distribution. The old-established (one might even say ‘venerable’) publication for the disability market is ‘Able Magazine’ published out from Scotland but covering the entire UK. Not that ‘Able’ has rested on its laurels as the leading printed magazine for our market it has also moved very strongly along a digital path both in its web presence and its social media. I was lucky enough to get their Social Media guru Claudia Foxcroft to be a guest on our podcast to find out what impact their social media was having on the UK disability world.
Claudia explained how social media gives the publication an immediacy and ‘newsy’ feel that is difficult to achieve with just a printed product. So, her work complements the in-depth editorial that the readership really appreciates. A quick glance at their website will show just how much great information they can pack into their digital offering with interesting and newsworthy videos that can’t be captured by the printed word. The website also offers magazine subscribers a digital version so they can read the full magazine content from their laptop, pad or phone.
Claudia is also responsible for the abundance of quality content on their facebook page which is followed by more than 4000 people and a credit to a magazine with 25 years serving the community. Their twitter page has a huge following of over 30.000 tweeters which they have built up over their 10 years on this platform. Here at disabilitymatch we appreciate just how much work goes into providing great regular content for social media and Claudia’s team obviously go to a lot of trouble to provide varied disability information for their followers. We hope that this podcast will encourage you to engage with ‘Able’ and get great ideas on activities you can incorporate into your dating life. You should also enter their competitions which often feature free trips that you can take your partner on.
